The Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management (SHFM) has named our very own Casey McGinnis as a Rising Star!  Like At Your Service Staffing, SHFM recognizes the important role young professionals play in ensuring the continued success of the corporate foodservice and hospitality industries. The SHFM Rising Stars Program has been established to recognize rising stars at foodservice and hospitality companies.

Casey has excelled as a Client Relations and Staffing Account Manager for our DC office since joining our team last year.  Described by her co-workers as hard working, dedicated and a great teammate, it comes as no surprise to us that she has been recognized as a Rising Star for SHFM.

We are so proud of this recognition! Congratulations Casey!

SHFM Critical Issues

The hospitality industry does not slow down or stop but it is important to take time connect with our colleagues and discuss current topics in our industry.

On Tuesday April 25th, myself and two members of the AYS Account Manager Team- Jennifer Baker and Irmak Hatiboglu attended the SHFM 15th annual Critical Issues conference hosted by Credit Suisse.

The newly renovated Credit Suisse was an amazing location for this event and the team there exemplified hospitality.  There were three panels throughout the day, all very educational and informative. 

However, what really struck a chord with us was when one of the panelists during the Food and Dining Styles presentation mentioned that we can have brand new cafeterias, have a focus on Wellness in the workplace and essentially have the best of everything but if it is not driven with hospitality or if hospitality is not at the core of it all, the best of the best is all for naught.

Hospitality 360 was such a fitting title for this SHFM Critical Issues Conference.  We look forward to the 16th Annual Conference!

Backing Bourbon: Why AYS Loves SHFM

At Your Service Staffing is proudly sponsoring the Society for Hospitality and Food Management (SHFM) New York City Bourbon Tasting Event on Thursday, October 1, 2015. For us, becoming a sponsor for this event was an easy decision because 1. We love SHFM and 2. We love Bourbon! All joking aside, sponsoring such a great event gives us the opportunity to continue our partnership with SHFM, learn more about Bourbon, a new trend in our industry, and support a charitable contribution that will further progress the food service and hospitality industries that we proudly operate within.

The Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management (SHFM) is an organization of individuals dedicated to seeing their industries thrive. One way they ensure the preceding is to continually promote the hospitality and food management industries through the spirit of networking and education.  Since becoming a member of SHFM, I have been able to connect with hospitality and foodservice industry professionals in a way I was not able to before. And I have learned so much as a result. At each event I have been able to attend, I have encountered an atmosphere where one can creatively share thoughts and ideas about our industry, where it is heading and the daily challenges and wins that occur in this humble pursuit. It truly enriches the day to day of my career.

One of the areas we, as members, often find ourselves discussing at our events are new trends in the industry. Good news for our fellow Bourbon lovers because, right now, nothing is more on trend than Bourbon.  More and more every day, Individuals are becoming more educated about this spirit - all of the different types of Bourbon, the distillation processes behind creating it and the best ways to enjoy it.  Chefs are even preparing delicious meals and desserts with it to pair well with the fall season. What better way to get in on this fun new trend than over a networking event!

The best part of the SHFM New York City Bourbon Tasting Event this week is that it’s really all about building up the future of our industries. Proceeds from this event will go to raise money for the SHFM charitable efforts – some of which include education, scholarships and internships for students interested in the hospitality and food service industries. Shaping the future of our industries over Bourbon – it truly does not get much better than that.
